Keller's Summer Reset: The Parkway Is Quietly Becoming The Town's Dining District

If you have driven Keller Parkway lately, you have probably clocked the pace of the storefront changes without quite adding them up. A former Maple Street Biscuit space now smells like a wood-fired oven. The old Anytime Fitness box is being rebuilt around billiard tables. A drive-thru pizza window has appeared where you did not expect one. Each opening reads as a one-off. Put them on a map and the pattern is harder to miss.

Here is the claim worth holding for the rest of this post: the half-mile of Keller Parkway between Rufe Snow and Bear Creek has, over the last six months, turned into the town's real dining and daily-services corridor. Old Town Keller is still where you go after dark, but the everyday map has shifted west. If your Saturday routine still starts with a drive to Southlake or Alliance, the 2026 openings are worth a second look.

The Parkway Cluster, In Order Of Opening

The density is what stands out. Six named concepts have either opened, been announced, or broken ground inside a walkable stretch of Keller Parkway this year.

Acquario Pizza Pasta & Bar opened in March 2026 at 967 Keller Parkway, in the former Maple Street Biscuit Company space, as a casual sister concept to Keller's Acquario Italian Restaurant. The kitchen is not a franchise operation. Chef Gimmy Piperku is a world champion of the Caputo Cup pizza-making competition held annually in Naples, Italy, and fresh pasta is made daily in a visible pasta machine behind the counter. That is an unusual level of technical pedigree for a strip-center address.

Two doors down the same commercial run, Can Am Pizza, a Washington-based operator whose first Texas location opened in Frisco in 2024, brought its second Texas store to Keller this year, at 1004 Keller Parkway, Ste. 116. The menu leans on gourmet, specialty and East Indian-inspired pizzas alongside pastas, gyros, calzones, oven-baked subs, wraps and wings. Butter chicken pizza next to a Neapolitan pedigree three suites away is a genuinely new dining option for the corridor.

Cristina's Fine Mexican Restaurant, a family-owned North Texas chain, announced a Keller location debuting in 2026. And per PaperCity's reporting on the Parkway pipeline, Fort Worth's Little Lilly Sushi is opening a second location in Keller Town Center at 1004 Keller Parkway, Suite 106, also called Little Lilly Sushi, joined by Hoshi Ramen Japanese Fusion & Pub at 1301 Keller Parkway, Suite 200, from restaurateur Injun Shim, with a menu of tonkatsu, shoyu and miso ramen alongside rice bowls. Further west along the same road, Huckleberry's, a casual breakfast and brunch restaurant that describes itself as Cajun offerings with a California twist, is opening its first Texas outpost at 711 Keller Parkway, and Desi Adda, an Indian grocery-plus-restaurant from owner Ramesh Tinnanooru, is taking the 1110 Keller Parkway space in Keller Town Center. The Desi Adda address was previously home to both El Paseo and Roy's, which tells you something about how long some of these boxes had been searching for a tenant.

What Old Town Is Doing While The Parkway Fills Up

Old Town has not been idle. It has been getting the streetscape rebuilt underneath it. Hops Kitchen + Bar, an upscale steakhouse from Donny Wu and Tommy Zheng of Hush Sushi + Bar, will break ground in August and open in summer 2027 at 200 Keller Parkway. The concept is billed as East China meets steakhouse, with premium steaks, fresh seafood, traditional Chinese cuisine and craft cocktails. Two years is a long lead time, but it lands the project in the middle of what CultureMap describes as infrastructure and streetscape upgrades transforming the corridor into a pedestrian-friendly business district, complete with on-street parking, pedestrian amenities and upgraded utilities.

The read on that is straightforward. The Parkway is absorbing the daytime and family traffic. Old Town is being reshaped as the pedestrian evening block, with Hops as its anchor. If you have lived in Keller for a while, the two ends of town used to blur together into a single dining scene. They are separating into two different products.

For the near term, the Old Town regulars are still the reference points. Old Town Keller is the main destination for live music, with a relaxed local feel, and venues like Shotzee's Bar & Grill and Hollywood's Pour Shack regularly feature country and rock artists, especially on weekend nights. What's On Tap in the Town Center remains the go-to spot for a wide craft beer selection, and The Local Watering Hole is the classic neighborhood sports tavern.

The Openings That Are Not Restaurants

Two of the more interesting arrivals do not involve food at all.

Chalk & Steel Co., an indoor billiards and darts venue targeting an October opening in Keller, was approved by Keller City Council on June 16 through a specific use permit for an indoor entertainment facility. The business will lease a 7,310-square-foot space that has housed three different gyms since 2010, most recently Anytime Fitness, which closed in 2025. That is one of the older commercial boxes on the corridor finally getting a use that is not another workout franchise. The location will have 12 billiard tables and 11 dart boards, eight with steel tip darts and three with soft tip darts, and soft-tip dart machines will let players in Keller compete against other competitors across the United States. It is a niche category, but there is nothing else like it in North Tarrant County.

The wellness side of the Parkway is filling in too. Degree Wellness, a med spa offering cryotherapy, an infrared sauna, cold plunge and oxygen therapy, is opening this summer at 242 Rufe Snow Drive, Ste. 140. And two shops that quietly opened in the first weeks of the year are worth calling out because they are the kind of independent that gets missed under the bigger restaurant headlines. Especially Sweet Gourmet Chocolate Boutique is a family shop run by Mike and Aspen Calhoun with their adult son Shane, who has autism, and the Calhouns plan to eventually open employment in the shop to other people with disabilities. Mooo's Ice Cream, which opened February 5, offers 30 to 40 flavors alongside shakes, boba tea and iced coffee.

What Is Actually On The Calendar

The city's own event slate reads dense from late summer through fall. If you are triaging what to actually put on the family calendar, these are the ones with fixed dates worth knowing about:

• Family Nights at the outdoor pool, Wednesdays 7 to 9 p.m. through August 5, at The Keller Pointe, 405 Rufe Snow Drive
• Kiwanis Butterfly Festival, September 26, at 532 Keller Parkway, having relocated from Southlake
• Yappy Hour, Wednesdays September 3, 10, 17 and 24, and Doggie Dunk on September 12
• Date Night in the Park on October 3, Trash Bash and Haunted Camp Out on October 24, and Flannel Fest on November 7
• Free youth fishing at the pond behind Town Hall, stocked with freshwater catfish in June by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, for anglers 16 and under

The recurring pieces are unchanged and still worth knowing. The Keller Farmers Market is a weekend staple, operating on Saturday mornings from spring through fall at Bear Creek Park, with local produce, baked goods and crafts from Texas vendors. A dinner-and-a-movie night at the Moviehouse & Eatery is a popular easy choice, and Salt & Light Collective hosts public workshops in a historic farmhouse setting.

The Weekend Routine Question

Put the pieces together and the practical question for a Keller resident is simple. Where does your Saturday start now? For a lot of households the honest answer for years has been Southlake Town Square or Alliance. Between Acquario Pizza's wood-fired oven, Little Lilly's second-location sushi, an Indian grocery you can actually shop at Desi Adda, a Cajun brunch at Huckleberry's, and a billiards hall on the way home, that answer is genuinely up for grabs by fall. The Parkway is quietly closing the reason-to-leave gap.

That does not mean every one of these concepts will succeed. It means the corridor now supports the kind of choice that a town this size has historically had to import. When Hops opens Old Town's next chapter in 2027, Keller will have two distinct dining destinations rather than one thinly spread scene.
